After years of destination extravaganzas and larger-than-life celebrity weddings, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and filmmaker Sharan Sharma have reminded us why home weddings have a charm that’s impossible to recreate elsewhere. Their intimate Mumbai celebration wasn’t about making headlines with over-the-top décor—it was about heartfelt moments, family traditions and the kind of warmth that instantly transported us back to the weddings we grew up attending. And honestly? We’re obsessed.

Held at the Ranjan residence in Mumbai, the wedding brought together close family and friends instead of hundreds of guests, making every picture feel personal rather than perfectly curated. It’s another reminder that Bollywood brides are slowly embracing intimate celebrations once again- where the focus shifts from grandeur to genuine emotion.

A Classic Bride In The Most Timeless Red
Instead of a heavily embellished lehenga, Akansha chose to walk down the aisle in a stunning red Arpita Mehta saree featuring intricate vintage-inspired gold embroidery, mirror work, cutdana detailing and a richly woven Banarasi drape. She paired it with a statement gold blouse, layered kundan jewellery, traditional red chooda, kaleeras and hathphools- proving that sometimes, a classic red saree is all you need to make bridal magic happen.

Her beauty look stayed equally timeless, with softly defined eyes, a classic red bindi, centre-parted hair and fresh, glowing makeup that let the jewellery and saree do all the talking.

The Sweetest Family Moments
Among our favourite moments? Akansha’s sister Anushka Ranjan walking her down the aisle- one of the most emotional highlights from the ceremony.

The sisters have always shared an incredibly close bond, and seeing Anushka escort her little sister made for a moment that felt deeply personal and refreshingly different from the usual celebrity wedding entries. Anushka later called it “the most beautiful day of my life” while welcoming Sharan into the family.

Alia Bhatt Was Every Bit The Radiant Bridesmaid
If there’s one friendship Bollywood has loved watching over the years, it’s Akansha and Alia’s. Naturally, Alia wasn’t just another guest—she was right there through the celebrations.

She attended the festivities in elegant sarees, danced her heart out to Maahi Ve during the pre-wedding celebrations and was every bit the supportive best friend throughout the festivities.
A Guest List Full Of Friends

The celebrations brought together the couple’s closest circle from the film industry, including Alia Bhatt, Vaani Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Athiya Shetty, Anushka Ranjan, Aditya Seal, Karan Johar, Rhea Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Orry and several other close friends and family members. Yet despite the star power, the wedding never felt like a red-carpet event—it felt exactly like what it was meant to be: a family wedding with loved ones.
Are Home Weddings Becoming Bollywood’s New Favourite Trend?

Between intimate guest lists, meaningful ceremonies, handwritten vows, emotional speeches, acoustic music and celebrations hosted at home, Akansha and Sharan’s wedding felt like a refreshing departure from the usual destination spectacle. The couple reportedly exchanged vows, signed their marriage documents surrounded by loved ones, celebrated with champagne, dinner and cake, and kept the focus firmly on the people who mattered most.
If recent celebrity weddings have taught us anything, it’s that luxury no longer has to mean excess. Sometimes, all you need is a beautiful red saree, your closest people, and a home filled with love. And honestly? That’s a trend we hope sticks around.
